JOHN GARDNER, PHD, PE
SENIOR ENGINEER
Dr. John Gardner is Professor Emeritus of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Boise State University, where he served as department chair, Associate Vice President for Campus Sustainability, and Director of the CAES Energy Efficiency Research Institute. His career spans robotics, smart grids, and energy systems, with over 60 peer-reviewed publications, three textbooks, three U.S. patents, and a 2019 TEDxBoise talk. A licensed Professional Engineer and Fellow of ASME, John now applies his expertise to practical sustainability projects. He has led heat pump feasibility studies, lighting efficiency analyses, and advanced energy modeling for school districts and municipalities, helping identify opportunities for cost savings and reduced emissions.
John balances his professional work with active involvement in organizations such as ClimateWork Maine, Colby College, and Window Dressers. He also enjoys spending time outdoors on local trails.
